Kunena— A Powerful Forum with a New Direction

Kunena, translated from Swahili meaning "to speak," arose out of a fork of the former Fireboard forum with a new team and some of the previous developers, including several Joomla core developers.

Many fixes and new features, which had been planned for past releases but never implemented, have been added to the initial release. Kunena 1.0.x is fully compatible with all prior versions of Fireboard and upgrades are automatic. Migrating from Fireboard to Kunena couldn't be easier. Simply uninstall Fireboard, update any menu links, and you're ready to go.

Kunena 1.5.9 is the most recent stable Joomla 1.5 native version of Kunena. Only a few months after the launch of Kunena, 1.5 marked a major milestone in the development of the next generation forum component for Joomla.

e are currently working hard on Kunena 1.6 the next major milestone of the Kunena project. Many long requested new features and functions have been integrated. CHeck back regularly to find the latest about this exciting new release of Kunena.

Note: The most recent stable release is 1.5.9. In its short life, Kunena is already running on over 150,000 websites around the world. In order to avoid complications during install or upgrade, please make sure your hosting platform matches or exceeds the minimum system requirements (make sure to always have a backup—a good policy you should always follow).
